Yazoo Day Thank You Reception The Yazoo Hometowners Club – Chicago Chapter and the local Yazoo Hometowners Club will be hosting a Thank You Reception recognizing Yazooans who were honored during Yazoo Day 2015. Bentonia Blues Festival 2016

44th Anniversary Bentonia Blues Festival Recap The 44th-anniversary Bentonia Blues Festival was well attended. The crowd came from all over the United States and from across the globe to celebrate the unique Bentonia style of blues that can still be heard at the Blue Front Cafe in Bentonia, Mississippi, and on the Holmes farm on the 3rd Saturday each June. The week full of events included an album release party for Jimmy “Duck” Holmes new album, released by Blue Front Records, titled “It Is What It Is.” Musicians came from New York, Minnesota, Missouri, and New Orleans, to name a few, just to be able to perform for and jam with Yazoo’s own Jimmy “Duck” Holmes at the Blue Front Cafe. The Yazoo County CVB Wins Research-In-Action Award from Mississippi Development Authority Tourism Division (Visit Mississippi)   The Delta Region 2015 Mississippi Research‐in-Action Award goes to….  YAZOO COUNTY CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU.  The CVB and county officials, including the tax collector, furnish data on a timely basis.  This entity takes a long‐term outlook on Tourism by hiring summer interns. Candidates must submit and present a handwritten, 3-page minimum, essay based upon research performed on a local tourism subject assigned by the Yazoo County CVB.

Blues & BBQ at Unwind After 5 at the Blue Front Cafe The Bentonia Blues Festival related events kicked off early this year. The live music, food and more inside the Blue Front Cafe started Sunday night, June 14th, and has been going strong ever night since. In keeping with our tradition, the Yazoo County CVB is sponsoring tonight’s Blues and BBQ event, or what we like to call “Unwind After 5” at the Blue Front Cafe. The evening will feature live music by Deeb’s Blues of Canton, Mississippi, as well as others who will join in and jam along in the oldest juke joint still in daily operation in the state of Mississippi.
