“Taste of Yazoo” Fundraiser was a Huge Success

October 22, 2014 – Yazoo City, Miss. – The “Taste of Yazoo” fundraiser, coordinated by the Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce and the Yazoo County Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Yazoo), was a raging success. Nearly $800 was raised by the event to support the Chamber’s S.O.S. “Save Our Santa” Christmas decorations fundraising campaign. Patrons bought wristbands at a price of $15 each to become a V.I.P. on October 21 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, earning them food samples from many of Yazoo County’s restaurants, access to exclusive sales at many Yazoo County retail locations, and the opportunity to win prizes in the form of two $250 Yazoo Gift Certificates.

Yazoo City residents Bob and Linda Coker took the opportunity to enjoy the evening out shopping, eating, and socializing. “The food was awesome all over town. You can’t beat the food and fellowship in Yazoo County,” said Linda. “It was so good to be able to experience the food from so many places at once. We were absolutely stuffed by the time we visited them all. It was a great way to support our community, and a great opportunity for visitors to get to see some of what Yazoo County has to offer.”

Whitney Hurt, Executive Director of the Chamber, remarked on the night’s success. “Tonight was so much fun. To see people enjoying themselves and each other’s company – just having a great time shopping and eating in Yazoo – reminded me why I do this. I was so glad to be able to partner with the CVB for ‘Taste of Yazoo’. We could not have done this without our organizations working together.”

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the participation of some of Yazoo County’s great business owners. Be sure to stop by these businesses to let them know you appreciate the time they spent supporting Yazoo through their donations of food, their hard work in keeping the doors open late, and their dedication to the community.
