Yazoo Historical Society Annual Meeting 2017 The Yazoo Historical Society will be holding its annual meeting on Sunday, October 22 at 3:00 pm at the Triangle Cultural Center. The Yazoo Historical Society is getting an award from the National Daughter of the American Revolution to be given by the local DAR chapter! The YHS will also be giving an award to the winner of the History Writing Contest held in the spring in association with the Yazoo Herald. The Yazoo Historical Society will be electing new officers and Board of Directors for the next 3 years. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. This is the time for current members to renew their membership and a great time for interested people to join! Yazoo Delta Half Marathon and 5K

Yazoo Delta Half Marathon and 5K The Preservation Yazoo Foundation announced their Yazoo Delta Half Marathon! The race is Saturday, November 4th, 2017, in Yazoo City and includes a Half Marathon and 5K. Website for info and online registration of participants and volunteers: http://yazoodeltahalfmarathon.racesonline.com Hosted by Preservation Yazoo Foundation The Yazoo Delta Half Marathon and 5k is a fundraising event for Preservation Yazoo. The half marathon course will offer a tour of many of the historic sites in Yazoo City, including the Witch’s Grave, made famous by Willie Morris in his book Good Ole Boy. The course is mostly flat, with one hill around the halfway point. After the race plan to stay around for great food, live music, and cold drinks! Rock n’ Roll Yazoo Christmas Parade Presented by the City of Yazoo City Downtown Yazoo City Tuesday, December 5, 2017 6:30 pm Enter your float, marching band, antique vehicle, etc. by completing the form below and submitting it to the Yazoo Herald or City Hall. Participation is FREE thanks to the City of Yazoo City! Deadline to enter is Monday, November 20th. Entry car signs pickup will be December 1st and 4th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
